Heterophoria test at home

For many people that I have met with this issue both in real life and online, it is very difficult to find a proper specialist that can assess whether you have heterophoria, what kind of and to what degree.

Many people suspect they might have this issue, but getting it confirmed by a good optometrist might require an expensive travel. My specialist has therefore created a simple test, that can tell you whether a further examination should be undertaken in this area or not.

All you need for this test are basic paper 3D glasses with red and green colors. The point of the glasses is to decouple your eyes, so when the test material is viewed, hidden binocular issues can manifest. Ideally the glasses should have double lens in each eye so you can only clearly see one color with each eye.

The test for heterophoria at near should be done 60 cm away from your screen, and the test for heterophoria at distance 3 m away from your screen. The rest of the instructions are written in the PDF, which you can download below.
